The famous USAT Liberty Wreck in Tulamben, Bali 💙 a must-see while exploring the east coast. The USAT Liberty Wreck has become one of Bali’s most famous dive sites… and for good reason! It is accessible to divers of various skill levels, including beginners. It offers excellent opportunities for both day and night dives- with vibrant coral growth, diverse marine life, and many fascinating creatures. The wreck has a unique and interesting history⟿ 💥In January 1942, during World War II, the USAT Liberty was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine while transporting supplies and equipment through the Lombok Strait. ⚓️The ship was severely damaged but did not sink immediately. To salvage the ship and its supplies, it was beached on the shores of Tulamben to prevent it from sinking completely. It remained on the beach for several years. 🌋In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung, Bali’s largest volcano, pushed the ship back into the water where she lies today. Now, this remarkable wreck serves as an awe-inspiring testament to both the turbulence of World War II and the power of nature. We dive this stunning wreck every day.
